Aegis Academy · Certification ladder

Three certifications. One completion badge. Capability-proven, not attendance-only.

Most AI certifications in 2026 prove a learner watched a course. Aegis credentials prove the holder built and ran a real workflow under review. The ladder maps to the four-tier curriculum: Tier 0 is a completion badge; Tier 1 begins the Aegis Operator credential path; Tier 2 and Tier 3 are gated credential paths.

The credential ladder

One credential per tier. Each builds on the one below.

Certifications above Tier 0 require a current credential at the previous tier. This is intentional. We do not award executive-track certifications without operator-level discipline first.

Tier 0 · Completion badge (NOT a certification)

Aegis AI Business Baseline: Completed

Proves. This person completed the AI Business Baseline course or workshop and understands AI in plain business language, knows what AI is good for, knows what AI should not touch, and has identified one safe first AI use case in their role.

For. All employees and leaders

How earned
  • 01Complete the Tier 0 self-paced course OR attend the all-employee workshop
  • 02Submit the AI Baseline Worksheet (one safe first use case + human review point + stop condition)
ValidityCompletion only. No expiry. No reassessment.
Tier 1 Certification

Aegis Operator

Proves. This person can safely operate one AI-augmented workflow with review discipline, data boundaries, measurement, and kill criteria.

For. Operators, coordinators, analysts, admin leads, managers who own workflows

How earned
  • 01Complete the Tier 1 AI Operating Discipline course (or approved challenge path)
  • 02Submit the AI Workflow Operating Plan capstone (live workflow run for ≥14 days with documented outcome and kill criteria)
  • 03Pass the scenario assessment: applied judgment across five domains
ValidityCredentials include ongoing quality controls and renewal requirements.
Tier 2 Certification

Aegis Practitioner

Proves. This person can supervise AI-assisted or agentic work inside a function and maintain accountability for outcomes.

For. Managers, team leads, founders, ops leaders, AI champions

How earned
  • 01Hold a current Aegis Operator credential
  • 02Complete the Tier 2 Agentic Delegation course
  • 03Submit the agentic workflow capstone (2-step AI/agent workflow run for ≥14 days with documented outcome)
  • 04Defend the workflow through a practical review or peer panel: case study, not multiple choice
ValidityCredentials include ongoing quality controls and renewal requirements.
Tier 3 Certification · GatedApproved enrollment only

Aegis Advisor

Proves. This person can lead other teams or peers through Aegis operating and decision discipline. Qualifies them to advise others.

  • 02Complete the Tier 3 Boardroom Decision Discipline course
  • 03Lead a real team through a Decision Operating System build OR boardroom decision review, attested by the team sponsor
  • 04Pass an advisor-level review panel with two existing Advisors
ValidityCredentials include ongoing quality controls and renewal requirements.
Five assessment domains

What the Aegis Operator scenario assessment measures.

The five-domain spec applies to the Tier 1 Aegis Operator scenario assessment. Tier 2 and Tier 3 use case-study and panel formats instead, but the underlying capability map is the same.

A

Strategic Framing

Frame an AI rollout around business priorities, constraints, and decision ownership rather than tool brand or hype.

B

Workflow Judgment

Select repeatable workflows with owner / review-point / baseline / metric, and reject novelty use cases.

C

Risk & Safe Use

Apply human-in-the-loop discipline to irreversible, external-facing, regulated, or reputation-sensitive decisions.

D

Data Governance

Make sound data, permissions, retention, and boundary calls before connecting internal data to AI tools.

E

Measurement Discipline

Evaluate whether an AI pilot is actually working using operating metrics: not vibes, not vendor roadmap, not seat count.

Quality controls

Credential quality controls include SME review, item bank rotation, inter-rater calibration, renewal cadence, and assessment audit trail.

If you don't pass

Candidates who do not pass are routed back to the relevant course modules before reassessment.

Two entry paths

Course-first or challenge.

Most candidates take the Tier 1 course and complete the Operator credential path at the end of the workshop. Experienced operators may challenge directly into Tier 1 or Tier 2, but only after a readiness screen and a compressed bridge module.

Path 1 · Course-first (default)

Course → capstone → cert

Take the tier course. Submit the capstone. Sit for the scenario assessment. The credential path is the default for foundational and developing candidates.

Path 2 · Challenge (experienced operators)

Readiness screen → bridge → cert

Open to candidates with strong AI Fluency Test results or documented practical AI experience attested by a sponsor. Pass a readiness screen, complete an abridged bridge module, sit for the credential.
